The proposed EU Social Taxonomy will be crucial in helping the finance sector to make best-practice investment decisions with regard to social values. The development of EU standards for climate change and mitigation are well progressed, and as environmental, social and governance (ESG) gradually come to the fore of investment decision making, a similar guidance for social activities is also needed. The social taxonomy recommendation is pioneering in its efforts to embed internationally agreed norms like the international bill of human rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in European investment guidance. This exciting webinar is brought to you by the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance. For over a year and a half the group has worked on the social taxonomy and is presenting its report findings on the 28th of February 2022. The panel is decorated with experts from the financial industry, trade unions and the corporate sector: |

While Thailand’s government has invested close to THB4trn (USD120bn) in infrastructure over the past decade, the GIIO Thailand report 2021 (“the report”) highlights that Thailand still faces an infrastructure gap. There is significant room to upgrade its infrastructure quality, with a possible future infrastructure spending gap of up to USD 100 billion by 2040 if the current trend of infrastructure investment is not accelerated. Emissions from the transport sector contribute significantly to deteriorating air quality and human health in cities. India has 6 out of the top ten polluted cities globally, with air pollution affecting most of North India severely and being responsible for the deaths of estimated 1.25 million people annually. Also, transport accounts for 20% of global energy use and contributes 25% to 30% of emissions. There is a need to reduce emissions as climate change poses an existential threat. Besides air quality and emissions, EVs offer energy security and economic opportunities. India is home to 53 cities with a population of over a million. These prerogatives compel India to look at electric mobility options to meet its transportation needs in a sustainable manner. The panel brings together expertise in Finance, Consultancy, Manufacturing, Battery Charging & Swapping and policy to throw light on the various aspects. Speakers: - Dr Rashi Gupta – Managing Director at Vision Mechatronics We would like to thank Fitchner, Vision Mechatronics, Biliti Electric Inc., Magenta and RMI India for their support!

Governments play a crucial role in scaling up Green, Social, and Sustainable investments (GSS). Sovereign GSS bonds can attract the investment needed for sustainable development and help achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the 2015 Paris Agreement. In addition, sovereign GSS bonds can also be a tool for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. We invite you to learn about the first Green, Social, and Sustainable Sovereign Bond Survey (GSS) that was based on conversations with 19 sovereign issuers and in which the different approaches and experiences of issuers were explored to allow a broader understanding of this market. Also, you will know the differences in the process of issuing bonds labeled by the private sector and other types of entities were highlighted. The Consejo Consultivo de Finanzas Verdes (CCFV) and Climate Bonds Initiative join several guests to discuss the report's findings and the opportunities they present for the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) market at this event. The webinar will also promote the publication of the Spanish translation of the GSS Sovereign Bond Survey report.
